I recently switched to organic coconut oil for cooking instead of vegetable/olive oil because there are so many amazing health benefits to making the switch. One main feature of coconut oil is that it can reduce your hunger significantly because the fatty acids in coconut oil can reduce appetite, which positively affects body weight if used long-term. When your body consumes coconut oil the fatty acids are immediately converted into energy rather than being stored as fat; so you can gradually start losing abdominal fat simply by making that switch . Since I’ve switched I’ve also noticed that I am less tired in general, and have an enhanced energy level during exercise.
The brand I tried is by Nature’s Way called: “Liquid Coconut Premium Oil” and I purchased it from Whole Foods. It cost me about $30 for a 20fl oz. bottle but they also sell the non-liquid form for about half the cost. So far, I have used it in with several different recipes and haven’t really smelled or tasted an overwhelming coconut flavor. With this particular brand the flavor is very neutral.
Portion control is also an important factor to consider when cooking with coconut oil as too much of it can turn into fat. Liquid coconut oil is very stable to cook with so using a smaller portion will withstand high temperatures without heat damage.
